Which shredder knife is right for your crop?

Alloway shredders take three knife types: steel cup, D-ring steel L-knife and rigid cotton L-knife. The lineup, straight from the brochure, and how to pick with your dealer.

Two farmers inspecting crops in the field

Alloway center-drive shredders are built with a quarter-inch steel body and spiral mounted flails. The knife on the end of those flails is the choice you make, and your dealer matches it to what you grow.

The three knife types

Steel cup knife. Bolted on.

D-ring steel L-knife. Available standard or durafaced.

Rigid cotton L-knife. The third option in the lineup.

Heavy welded flail mount clips hold the knives, and every knife type bolts on.

Running potatoes?

The brochure lists internally mounted potato contour flails as their own option. Ask for them by name when you spec the machine.

Picking for your rotation

Which knife fits which crop is a conversation for your dealer; the spec sheets on the shredder pages are the place to start.
